On 2 March 2026, colleagues from the Swiss Global Ethic Foundation visited Tübingen for a day of work and exchange. The focus was on the further development of the Global Ethic project, current projects of both foundations and the meeting of the Swiss Foundation Board.

STRENGTHENING COOPERATION IN THE GLOBAL ETHOS PROJECT

The meeting took place at the Foundation’s new headquarters, the former home of founder Hans Küng. The Global Ethic Foundation returned there last year. Hardly any other place stands for the idea of a global ethic as much.

The participants began by discussing their common interests and projects. Topics included Hans Küng’s 100th birthday on 19 March 2028 and future cooperation in the Global Ethic Project. In the afternoon, working discussions took place in smaller groups. The further development of the Hans Küng – Global Ethic Lecture at the University of Lucerne was also discussed, with Nils Goldschmidt, Director of the Global Ethic Institute, participating at times.

The visit underscored the close ties within the Global Ethic Project network and the importance of personal exchange for further cooperation.

Global Ethic Project: Background and idea

The Global Ethic project goes back to Hans Küng. He launched the initiative in 1990 and established the Global Ethic Foundation in 1995. It is based on the conviction that, despite cultural, religious and ideological differences, people around the world share common ethical principles - the so-called global ethic.
The project is supported by the Global Ethic Foundation, the Global Ethic Institute and international partner organizations such as the Swiss Global Ethic Foundation and the Global Ethic Initiative Austria. Together, they form an open network that strengthens ethical orientation in education, business, politics and society.
