Global Ethic at “Beyond Polarisations” Seminar in Tallinn
How can youth work and education counter polarisation, disinformation and declining trust? That was the guiding question at the European Seminar “Beyond Polarisations: Youth Renewing Democracy” in Tallinn, Estonia, in late May 2026. The Global Ethic Foundation took part and brought practical projects from Baden-Württemberg into the exchange, showing what values education can look like in practice.
GLOBAL ETHIC TOOLS IN EUROPEAN DIALOGUE
Our colleague Alice Kroll travelled to Tallinn in late May, where the Estonian Education and Youth Board (Haridus- ja Noorteamet) had invited participants to a three-day seminar as part of the European Partnership “New Power in Youth”. Fifty youth workers, educators and community builders from across Europe came together to discuss a shared question: what can education and youth work achieve when societies grow increasingly polarised, trust in institutions declines and disinformation poisons public discourse?
Alice Kroll led the foundation’s workshop “It’s up to you!” (“Du bist gefragt!”), part of the radicalisation prevention project “Achtung?!” in Baden-Württemberg, and presented the Weltethos exhibition at the tool market. One thing became evident, above all in the workshop and the discussions that followed: issues such as migration policy or disinformation need guided formats. The fact that these approaches resonate in European exchange shows just how relevant values education is beyond the local context.
"What struck me most was the phenomenon of 'participation fatigue'. Many young people feel they aren't heard in political decision-making processes, and so they withdraw. At the same time, they're genuinely motivated to stand up for a fairer world. As facilitators, it's on us to give them space for their voices.“
