How can young people shape a more just future? At the Active 4 Future digital network meeting on November 7, students from Global Ethic Schools exchanged ideas on current issues and values. Interactive workshops focused on peace, fake news, and global justice. The aim of the meeting was to learn from each other, take responsibility, and work together to bring the global ethic to life.

WORKSHOPS ON PEACE, FAKE NEWS, AND GLOBAL LEARNING

The Active 4 Future digital network meeting once again brought together committed students from Global Ethic Schools from various regions of Germany. They met online to discuss social issues and further develop their own project ideas. The focus was on how values such as non-violence, truthfulness, and humanity can be experienced in everyday school life.

In cooperation with the Jugendstiftung Baden-Württemberg, the Peace Education Service Center of the Berghof Foundation, and the Development Education Information Center EPiZ Reutlingen, three inspiring workshops with different focuses were created.

  • Peace Counts: Led by Katharina Sommer and Bart Laes (Peace Education Service Center, Berghof Foundation), participants gained insights into global peace projects that inspire courage and give hope.
  • Who says that? – Disinformation & fake news on the internet : Led by Alexander Krickl (Baden-Württemberg Youth Foundation), the students learned to critically evaluate information and act responsibly in the digital space.
  • World Game – Worldview Module: With Verena Brenner (EPiZ Reutlingen), participants learned in a playful way how different perspectives on global issues can be and how their own view of the world can be broadened.

COMMITMENT, EXCHANGE, AND INSPIRATION

The feedback from the students showed how enriching the digital network meeting was. The practical ideas, the variety of topics, and the opportunity to learn from each other were particularly appreciated. One participant from Steigerwald-Landschulheim Wiesentheid High School reported that this was her second time attending and that she had once again learned a lot and gained new ideas for her own projects. A student from Elly-Heuss-Knapp High School in Heilbronn commented that the workshop on disinformation on the internet was particularly relevant in today’s world.

“I liked that [...] positive examples of peace projects were shown. It was totally inspiring and broadened my view of the world.”

The Active 4 Future format illustrates how Global Ethic Schools give young people space to develop their own ideas and take on responsibility. Whether it’s peace education, media literacy, or global justice, the students’ commitment makes it clear that shaping the future begins with attitude.
