The Global Ethic Initiative Austria was founded in Vienna in 2005 by Mag. Edith Riether as an independent non-profit association. The President is Prof. Dr. Anton Pelinka; Mag. Edith Riether is the General Secretary.
 

The Austrian Global Ethic Initiative is designed to make the “Global Ethic Project” better known in Austria, i.e. to promote ethical consciousness and to cause the grand ethical principles of the Declaration Toward a Global Ethic to penetrate into all branches of life.
 

Focal points of the activities of the Global Ethic Initiative are:
• the organization of interdisciplinary lecture series at Austrian universities;
• the introduction of ethical education in the schools with the Declaration Toward a Global Ethic as a part of the curriculum;
• the promotion of the travelling exhibition “World Religions – Universal Peace – Global Ethic” and the multi-media project “Exploring the Tracks of the World Religions” in Austria.
