Hans Küng received the Lev-Kopelev-Prize for Peace and Human Rights 2006. The prize is named for the Russian humanist and literary scholar Lev Kopelev (1912–1997), who lived in exile in Cologne from 1981 on and untiringly worked for reconciliation between Germans and Russians.
