The
thematic framework and focus of the exhibition is the „Global
Ethic Idea“, i. e. the quest for common ethical values, norms
and standards in the religions and the question of their significance
for today’s world. This theme was launched in 1990 by Hans Küng
in his book Projekt Weltethos (Engl. Global responsibility, 1991) and
found concrete expression in the “Declaration towards a Global
Ethic”
which was drafted by Hans Küng and endorsed by the Parliament of
the World's Religions in Chicago in 1993. Since then it has been expanded
upon in numerous publications
The basis of the exhibition is above all Hans Küng’s unique
multimedia project “On the trails of world religions” (1999), consisting
of a seven-part television series available on videos, an illustrated
book, and a CD-ROM, which together are aimed to provide a comprehensive
introduction to the theme.
